hey guys, new member, ive got a 73, when i accuired the bike and changed the oil, what came out was this gas oil mixture, seemed more like 70% gas and 30% oil, well i thought maybe since the bike sat so long, the the petcock was left on, fuel entered the cylinders and passed throught the rings and puddled in the crankcase, i changed the oil and did a tune up, it runs strong, i parked it last night and this morning i noticed a big puddle under the bike, same gas oil mixture, is this a common problem with cb's or normal? am i missing something thanks chris |

| yea there are really only two things to look at, get a petcock rebuild kit and install that and then put the petcock back on with gas in the tank and leave it open for a while with out the lines connected and make sure there is no gas comiing thru then you have to get carb rebuild kits or at least you need new float seals. check to make sure your floats are not leaking sometimes they get pin holes in them. if you solve these issues you should be ok, well mechanically, mentally is still under discussion... |

My bike had the same problem. Check out the online parts dealers for a new petcock. The kits you see on ebay are almost as expensive as a brand new petcock.
I recommend shs powersports.
